Numbers are important like Apples

123...ABC... Simple as it sounds but numbers are essential when you become a manager. I would like to introduce my self before you continue reading below: My name is Mignonette Joy, yes I have a couple of blogs that are currently live right now and I am a first time Manager.

I would like to help out (or give you some situation) that will help you out as a FIRST TIME MANAGER like myself. I am no expert, (Oh yea, I just know how to do a little SEO, PPC, and blogging/Article writing). If the ideas below doesn't help, well, you can email me to correct them or if you share the same sentiments, I would love to hear them!

Without any ado.. Go on! READ AWAY!

If you love numbers, good for you but those whose left brains are actively working probably will have a hard time coping up --- just like me.

I would like to share 3 reasons why numbers are important for you as a first time manager (and it applies to your personal life as well).

1. You base your decisions on the numbers you are seeing

:. For some people, they'll say -- yeah duh! But for some starters (First timers) -- they wouldn't know that numbers in corporate world matters-- since they are just beginning -- now that's duh!

It is important that you know your metrics -- okay that's not a biggie. The secret is to know the higher management lingo so that you wouldn't find yourself lost in a corporate jungle.

Metrics -- it depends on your business or whatever you are managing at the moment the meaning of this. It can a performance metrics, a sales metrics, or manufacturing -- or whatever it is it only means MEASUREMENTS (if you will google that, it'll probably give you a couple of definitions but that's what it is.)

It is important that you know HOW you are measured, HOW you will measure your team member, WHAT you are measuring, WHY you are measuring them oh and WHAT IS IT FOR.

You'll understand it as you go along being the manager of your company.

Numbers will tell you what the real deal is, and where to go next. But numbers doesn't have any feelings. Make sure that when you are making decision, do not just use your head and abruptly follow what you are seeing based on your metrics(well most of the time at least). Being the manager, use your heart as well in making decisions especially if it involves people.

2. You will see things you haven't seen before.
Numbers are like a story (yes like the ones that your mother read you when you were a tot) Okay, so these numbers will show that 'once upon a time' type of story when you are careful to see what those numbers are telling.

Just like any story, there are different kinds of stories, there are fantasies, action-thriller, horror and many more depends on what you are looking at. If that's the Financial Statement and you are seeing a great loss at the end of it, well yeah you are facing in a very deep trouble -- not you of course but the company you are working with.

Working with different documents can be a whirlwind to you. So make sure that you are reviewing these documents. You have to know what documents you are expecting at a given date/day. Make sure that you also know what those numbers are telling you. Sometimes it can be a silent volcano that will erupt anytime.

3.  You will be able to see the future with it.
Who doesn't want to know what will happen in the future? Of course we would like to them, one is to make sure that we are still existing in the years to come.

Numbers are essential for you to know where you go, how you will do it and what to pursue in the future.  The numbers you are seeing at the moment are your future. Forecasting is the word for it.

Of course when you can know the future you have an advantage to ensure your companies future!
